Who are we?

I'm Nigel Lowry, Lemmata's founder, company director and principal consultant.

I hold two degrees in computer science from Nottingham and Bristol. These courses formed the basis of my software engineering background.

I started my career on the MOD's graduate scheme for engineers and scientists becoming the project manager of an international procurement project within two years. Soon I missed the technical side of the job and left to go back to programming with BAE Systems.

After gaining SCJP and OCMJD status I realised enterprise Java development was too difficult, costly and complicated so I investigated other technologies.

For Web development, Ruby on Rails is hard to beat. It has testing support baked-in, which makes for quicker, more reliable development and I'm confident it can bring a lot of value to your project.

I have worked within both waterfall and Agile environments and am a CSM. I've seen which approaches work and which don't. As a first step to becoming Agile you need to look at how you're doing things and devote time to investigate improvements; I can help facilitate your team's first retrospective meetings.
